Roscoea ‘Harvington Red Gurkha’ AGM
£ 9.50 – £ 12.25
Roscoea ‘Harvington Red Gurkha’ AGM produces distinctive brick-red flowers atop of strong dark red stems and appears later than many other Roscoea.
Introduce a touch of exotic beauty to your garden by planting Roscoea ‘Harvington Red Gurkha’. As a member of the ginger family, this plant features upright stems adorned with strap-shaped leaves and stunning, orchid-like flowers. A robust, clump-forming, and vigorous plant, they can thrive anywhere in the British Isles when positioned in dappled shade with moist, free-draining soil. It is well-suited for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or as part of a rock garden where its unique and exotic blooms can be appreciated up close. It will also happily grow in a large container in a shaded corner of a patio.
In addition to ‘Harvington Red Gurkha’, our collection includes several Roscoea varieties with the ‘Harvington’ prefix. These are a set of distinctive, garden-worthy plants bred by Hugh Nunn.
After 15 years of dedicated selection and reselection, we are now releasing more stunning hybrids. Many of these remarkable plants have been featured in Gardens Illustrated magazine (August 2024), where Matthew Biggs introduces a “host of delectable new hybrids, ensuring that everyone can welcome this exquisite plant into their garden.”
Our selection of Roscoea includes a wide range of colours that flower at different times during the summer months. Click here for more details on how to create a spectacular succession of planting.
Roscoea ‘Harvington Red Gurkha’ can be purchased as either a flowering tuber or as a pot plant. Tubers are sent ready to plant out during March. Plants that have started to grow in pots are available early summer.
