The much sought after Sanguinaria canadensis multiplex ‘Plena’ AGM is a charming woodland plant from North America.  As its name indicates it produces multi-petalled flowers, similar to Gardenia in appearance. During Spring, the buds burst open and the pure white pom-pom flowers appear.   The leaves are distinctively scallop-shaped in bluish-green appearing as the flowers fade and continue to give interest in garden throughout the summer.

It is a hardy perennial, grown from a rhizome.  It is a good clump former, which flowers in April. The bare root rhizomes we are offering have been propagated here at Twelve Nunns and are at least three years old. It has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM) because it has proved to be a good, reliable garden-worthy plant.

Sanguinaria canadensis multiplex ‘Plena’ is a hardy perennial, grown from a rhizome, which flowers in April and reach a height of 20 cm. The rhizomes that we send out have been propagated entirely by ourselves here at Twelve Nunns and are at least three years old. It is a great clump former, prefers semi shaded position in moist, well-drained humus rich soil.
