Helleborus argutifolius (Corsican Hellebore) is an excellent garden plant which grows up to 1m producing striking lime green clusters of flowers and dissected evergreen foliage.
It is described by the RHS as follows:-
‘H. argutifolius is an evergreen perennial to 1m with stout stems bearing leaves composed of three spiny-toothed dark green leaflets. Bowl-shaped, nodding, pale green flowers 4-5cm in width are borne in large open clusters.’
Hellebores are excellent, easy to grow garden plants and flower at that time of year when there may be little or no other floral colour. They are winter flowering, frost hardy perennials, that reliably come back year after year, flowering from December through to the end of March. Their dark green, glossy, evergreen foliage also provides year-round interest.
Hellebores look particularly attractive against planting companions such as snowdrops, aconites and early daffodils. They create a perfect ground cover for areas of dappled shade, such as borders under deciduous trees and shrubs, but will also thrive in patio pots.
Our hellebores in pots are established plants ready for planting out in the garden or into a larger pot. To find out more about planting your Helleborus argutifolius (Corsican Hellebore) please see our Hellebores Planting Advice page.
