Meconopsis sheldonii ‘Slieve Donard’ AGM – a popular Chelsea Flower Show choice!

Meconopsis sheldonii ‘Slieve Donard’ (AGM) is also known as the Himalayan Blue Poppy, and is the best perennial Meconopsis for British gardens.

The beautiful blue flowers with contrasting yellow stamens appear during May. Each stem holds several flowers, that can be encouraged to continue growing by removing the faded blooms. The long, oval, green leaves appear very early in the season and are covered with down, which fade over time.

They do prefer a cool and shady position, with some shelter from the wind, and are frost hardy, growing well in neutral to acidic soils.

Meconopsis sheldonii ‘Slieve Donard’ AGM is available to purchase in different pot sizes. Click here to see what we have.
